FAQ

Questions, answered honestly.

The things schools and parents ask us first about Gyatra, our career assessment for students in India. No hype, no fine print buried away. If it is a career test for your child or your school, you deserve plain answers.

About the assessment

What Gyatra is, and what it is not

Is Gyatra an IQ test?
No. Gyatra is not an IQ test, and not a clinical or diagnostic test. It maps a student's interests, personality and reasoning strengths from the choices they make in the assessment. Every result is a strength within this test, relative to the student's own answers, never a rank against other children. If you want the detail, our science page explains the frameworks behind it.
How long does it take, and on what device?
A grade-10 assessment is about 115 questions and takes roughly fifteen minutes. Younger grades get a shorter, explore-only version. It runs on any device with a browser, a phone, tablet, laptop or school computer, and students can pause and continue.
Which languages does it support, and is read-aloud available?
The student experience works in English, Hindi and Marathi. Read-aloud is built in for each language, so a student can listen to every scenario and question instead of only reading it.
Is Gyatra a verdict? Does it decide my child's career?
No. Gyatra is a map, not a verdict, and it never puts a label on a child. It suggests up to three career directions to explore, each with an honest confidence badge, and it is designed to open a conversation between the student, family and counsellor, not to close one.
Which grades is it for?
Gyatra is built for grades 1 to 12. Younger students get a shorter, explore-only journey, while older students get the fuller assessment that leads into stream and career directions.
Can a student retake it?
Interests and personality tend to be stable over short periods, so an immediate retake usually adds little. Over a longer gap, as a student grows, a fresh assessment can show how their profile is developing, and a school can arrange this.

Careers, streams and pay

How Gyatra points to careers

How are careers matched?
Career directions, streams, entrance exams and indicative pay are matched to the whole profile from a curated catalogue built for the Indian context. The scoring engine is deterministic: it computes every number from the student's answers and never guesses. An optional AI writer only rephrases the wording, and can never invent a career, an exam or a number. Read more on the science page.
Are the salary ranges guaranteed?
No. Salaries are shown only as indicative ranges, to give a realistic sense of a direction rather than a promise. Pay varies widely by role, city, employer and experience, so these numbers are meant for exploration, not as a guarantee of future income.

For parents

What you will see as a parent

Who can see the results, parents or the counsellor?
Results are tiered. Parents see interests, personality and career directions in plain language. Deeper signals, aptitude, work values and social-emotional signals, stay with the school counsellor, and parents never see a raw aptitude number. This keeps the sensitive material in trained hands while still giving families something they can act on.

For schools

Starting Gyatra at your school

How does a school get started?
A school starts with a free window, then a plan matched to the school. Staff share one registration link, students self-register and appear live as they finish, and the counsellor gets a dashboard. The simplest way to begin is to book a demo, or read the for schools overview first.
How much does it cost?
There is no fixed public price. A school begins with a free window, then moves to a plan matched to its size and needs. The clearest way to get pricing for your school is to book a demo.

Privacy & data

How we treat a child's data

Is my child's data safe, and is the camera recorded?
In supervised mode the camera is shown on screen for presence only, and no video is ever recorded or saved. Each school sees only its own students, there is no advertising and no third-party tracking, and staff must sign in with two-step login. Read the fuller picture on our privacy page.
